Remaining spots in Izibet FA Trophy semi-finals at stake on Monday

The remaining two quarter-finals from the Izibet FA Trophy will be played on Monday as Floriana take on Birkirkara and Gzira United face Santa Lucia at the National Stadium and the Tony Bezzina Stadium respectively, both games kicking-off at 19:00.

Floriana, who are currently second in the BOV Premier League, face a difficult task in Birkirkara who aim at advancing in the competition as this is the only chance to claim silverware, considering that they are third in the league, six points behind the Greens.

Floriana defeated Ghajnsielem 1-0 in the Round of 32 and St. George’s 2-0 in the Round of 16 while Birkirkara reached this stage after defeating Fgura United 4-0 and Mosta 3-1 after extra-time.

The Greens defeated Birkirkara 1-0 in the second round of the BOV Premier League with the first round clash ending in a 1-1 draw.

In the other match, Gzira United and Santa Lucia cross swords in what promises to be another interesting encounter. The winner would be facing Valletta in the semi-finals.

The Maroons are currently fifth in the BOV Premier League Top Six while Santa Lucia are third from bottom in the Play-Out final round, hoping to retain their Premier League status.

Gzira defeated Zabbar St. Patrick 4-0 in the Round of 32 and Gudja United 3-1 in the Round of 16. Santa Lucia defeated Sirens 4-1 and St. Andrews 2-1 in the previous two rounds.

The Maroons are yet to beat Santa Lucia this season with the first round clash ending in a 1-1 draw and teh second in a 2-2 draw.
