Hibernians hit five past Mosta

Hibernians registered their first win as they defeated Mosta 5-0 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.

The Paolites therefore bounced back from the 1-4 defeat to Hamrun following the draw with Valletta in their first outing.

For Mosta, on the other hand, this was the second defeat in three matches.

They had three changes as Boubakary Diarra, Tyrone Farrugia and Steve Kingue were all named in the starting line-up while for Hibernians, Rodolfo Soares was preferred to Andrei Agius.

Hibs took the lead on the 15th minute when Jake Grech served Jurgen Degabriele from the right and the latter hit low past Akpan.

Three minutes from the end of the first half, the Paolites made it 2-0 courtesy of Jurgen Degabriele who slotted the ball past Akpan when served by Thaylor Aldama from the right.

Mosta tried to reduce the gap early in the second half but on the 66th, Jake Grech made it 3-0 with a powerful shot which hit the crossbar before ending at the back of the net following a cross by Gabriel Mensah from the right.

On the 80th minute, substitute Jairo Morillas sent Jake Grech through and the latter hit home past Akpan.

Seven minutes later, Jurgen Degabriele advanced all alone before slotting the ball past the Mosta goalkeeper to score Hibernians’ fifth.
