Floriana test for leaders Hamrun Spartans

Following an eventful international break, on and off the pitch, the BOV Premier League will be back this weekend with matches from match-day 5. Four matches are in programme on Saturday – two at the National Stadium and another two at the Tony Bezzina Stadium.

At the National Stadium, kick-off at 15:00, Hamrun Spartans take on Floriana.

The Spartans lead the way in the BOV Premier League table together with Birkirkara with maximum points from the first four matches. Hibernians, Pieta’, Marsaxlokk and Sirens, scoring nine goals and conceding just one. Floriana, on the other hand, returned to winning ways in their last outing as they defeated eternal rivals Valletta 1-0. In the previous three matches they earned four points following a win over Pieta’, a draw with Sirens and a narrow loss to Birkirkara. The Greens are currently sixth on seven points.

At the Tony Bezzina Stadium, kick-off at 15:00, Mosta take on Sirens.

Four points separate the two teams with Mosta lying in seventh place on 6 points with Sirens fourth from bottom on two. Mosta lost to Gudja in their first outing but bounced back with a 4-1 win over Marsaxlokk and following a heavy defeat to Hibernians, they beat Pieta’ 4-1. Sirens, on the other hand, lost 0-2 to Birkirkara in their first outing and following two draws with Floriana and Valletta, they lost 0-2 to Hamrun in their last game.

At the National Stadium, kick-off at 17:15, Santa Lucia meet neighbours Gudja United.

Santa Lucia share the bottom spot with Pieta’ Hotspurs without any points, after losing to Gzira United, Balzan, Zebbug Rangers and Birkirkara. Gudja, on the other hand, had an impressive start, collecting ten points thanks to wins over Mosta, Balzan and Zebbug and a draw with Gzira.

At the Tony Bezzina Stadium, kick-off at 17:15, Zebbug Rangers cross swords with Marsaxlokk in a clash between two newly-promoted sides.

Zebbug claimed three points so far thanks to a win over Santa Lucia but suffered defeats to Balzan, Birkirkara and Gudja. Marsaxlokk, on the other hand, held Gzira in a draw but lost the other three matches to Mosta, Hamrun and Balzan.
