Mosta win 2-1 as Balzan miss a penalty, hit posts twice

Mosta earned three precious points as they defeated Balzan 2-1 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium.

A win which puts Mosta in sixth place, on level points with Gudja United, leaving Balzan on the 14-point mark.

Mosta took the lead on the 10th minute when Christ Ememe was brought down inside the area by Matheus Souza and from the penalty spot, Clayton Failla converted.

Balzan could have equalised ten minutes later when they also were awarded a penalty after Steve Kingue floored Angel Torres inside the area. However, Alex Satariano hit sky high from the penalty spot.

One minute in the second half, Balzan levelled matters when Angel Torres served Matheus Souza inside the area and the Brazilian hit low past goalkeeper Ini Etim Akpan.

Balzan could have gone ahead on 62 minutes when Angel Torres received an assist from the left and rounded a defender but his conclusion hit the crossbar. On the 78th, Bojan Kaljevic hit the upright with a header after receiving a cross from the left.

Ten minutes from time, Mosta notched the winner when off a Clayton Failla freekick Christ Evo Ememe headed the ball home past goalkeeper Jonathan Debono.
