Zejtun Corinthians moved to just two points behind leaders Sliema Wanderers as they defeated Lija Athletic 4-2 at the Centenary Stadium on Monday.

Erjon Beu put Lija ahead on the 19th bur James Brincat equalised four mnutes later. Duvan Mosquera Torres restored the lead for Lija on the 27th but Alan Abela levelled matters two minutes later. Twelve minutes in the second half, Andre Carlos Penha da Costa converted a penalty and six minutes from time Kurt Borg sealed the issue a fourth goal.

Sliema lead the way with 29 points, followed by Zejtun on 27, Naxxar on 26, Tarxien 21, Fgura 18, Melita and Zurrieq 17, Lija and St. Andrews 15, Marsa 14, Swieqi and Attard 13, San Gwann 11, Marsaskala 10, Mtarfa 8, Qrendi, Vittoriosa and Mqabba 7.
