Birkirkara secured the services of thirty-year old Swiss midfielder Matteo Fedele from Hamrun Spartans.
Fedele played for Yverdon and Sion in Switzerland and Lille in France at youth level. He played FC Sion and Grasshopers before a spell in Italy on loan with Carpi. He eventually moved to the Italian club from where he was loaned to Bari. He was later transferred to Foggia from where he also had spells on loan with Cesena and Romanian side Universitatea Craiova. Fedele later joined Valencienne in France but returned to Universitatea Craiova. He joined Hamrun Spartans last January.
The Stripes had earlier released Federico Falcone and Ryan Scicluna who joined Valletta and Marsaxlokk respectively.
