BOV Challenge League second phase gets underway

The second phase of the BOV Challenge League got underway on Saturday with three matches from the Play-Out and one match from the Top Six.

The Top Six clash between Melita and Tarxien Rainbows at the Centenary Stadium ended in a goalless draw.

In the Top Six, Sliema lead the way with 47 points, followed by Naxxar on 41, Zejtun and Tarxien 33, Zurrieq 29 and Melita 27.

Meanwhile in the Play-Out, bottom-placed Vittoriosa Stars defeated San Gwann 1-0 thanks to a goal by Isaac Galea on the 55th at the Centenary Stadium.

At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, goals by Luka Mijic on the 78th and Santiago Martinez on the 94th handed St. Andrews a 2-0 win over Marsa.

On the other hand, in another match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Swieqi United and Fgura United shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Gilberto Martins Leite Carrara put Swieqi ahead on the 43rd and went on to double the score four minutes in the second half. However Aroldo da Silva Arruda reduced the gap four minutes later and Sypros Nicolaou equalised on the 66th.

In the Play-Out, Fgura lead with 26 points, followed by Swieqi and St. Andrews 25, Marsa 24, Lija 20, Attard 19, San Gwann 18, Marsaskala and Mqabba 15, Qrendi and Mtarfa 14 and Vittoriosa 13.
