Izibet Amateur League: Comfortable win for Birzebbuga

Birzebbuga St. Peter’s registered a comfortable 5-1 win over Sta. Venera Lightnings in a match from Group A of the Izibet Amateur League at the Luxol Stadium on Saturday.

Keith Muscat put Birzebbuga ahead on the 12th minute and goals by Anderjay Grech on the 23rd, Miguel Simiana on the 27th and Andrely Kouessabio Makela on the 37th extended the lead to 4-0 by half-time. Fabio Attard converted a penalty to reduce the gap ten minutes from time but on the 90th, Keith Muscat made it 5-1.

Goals by Ryan Tabone on the 34th and Josmar Sammut on the 55th handed Xghajra Tornados a 2-0 win over Pembroke Athleta at the Luxol Stadium.

In a match at the Sirens Stadium, Mellieha defeated Ta’ Xbiex 3-1. Jack Vella put Mellieha ahead on the 34th and seven minutes in the second half, Alexander Akl doubled the score. Johan Grech pulled one back for Ta’ Xbiex on the 64th but four minutes in added time, Malcolm Vella Vidal sealed the issue with a third goal.

Senglea lead the way with 40 points, followed by Zabbar and Mgarr on 35, Birzebbuga 25, Kalkara 24, Xghajra 20, Qormi 19, Mellieha 13, Sta. Venera 11, Pembroke 9 and Ta’ Xbiex 1.

In a match from Group B, Mdina Knights and Siggiewi shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Sirens Stadium. Ronaldo Begambre converted a penalty to put Siggiewi ahead on the 12th minute but Melchior Tonna equalised three minutes later.
