Zejtun Corinthians stunned Tarxien Rainbows, defeating them 3-2 in a match from the Top 6 of the BOV Challenge League at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.
Former Zejtun player Jairo Santos de Oliveira Filho put Tarxien ahead on the 18th and although James Brincat levelled matters on the 20th, Jairo Santos made it 2-1 on the 25th. However Jacob Bartolo equalised on the 78th and three minutes in added time, Rafael de Fex notched the winner for Zejtun.
Sliema lead the way with 53 points, followed by Naxxar on 45, Zejtun 37, Tarxien 33, Melita 30 and Zurrieq 29.
In the Play-Out, Attard claimed three important points in a 3-1 win over Vittoriosa Stars at the Centenary Stadium. Yuto Morita put Attard ahead on the 19th and Bledi Alla scored twice on the 39th and 45th. Freud Gnindokponou pulled one back two minutes in added time.
A goal by new signing Kishi Kotaro on the 71st handed Lija Athletic a narrow win over Mtarfa at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.
On the other hand, Swieqi United defeated Marsaskala 2-1 in another match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Frank Temile put Swieqi ahead on the 28th and although Rundell Renold Winchester equalised on the 39th, Jean Borg made it 2-1 on the 47th.
In the Play-Out, Swieqi lead the way with 31 points, followed by St. Andrews on 28, Marsa and Fgura on 27, Lija 26, Attard 23, Mqabba 21, San Gwann 19, Qrendi 17, Marsaskala 16, Mtarfa 14 and Vittoriosa 13.
