Balzan beat Hibernians to join them in fifth place

Hibernians continue to disappoint as they suffered a fourth defeat in five matches, losing 1-2 to Balzan at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.

Thanks to this win, Balzan join the Paolites in fifth place on 30 points, two behind Mosta and five behind Birkirkara. For Balzan, this was the fourth win in five matches.

New signings Joao Vitor de Oliveira Florencio for Hibernians and Delvin Chanel Ndinga for Balzan were included as substitutes.

Following a goalless first half, Balzan took the lead on the hour when off a corner from the left, Matheus Souza hit the crossbar with a header but off the rebound, Momcilo Raso placed the ball at the back of the net.

Hibs levelled matters on the 71st when off a cross by Joao Vitor de Oliveira Florencio from the right, Yunusa Muritala managed to beat goalkeeper Rudy Briffa from close range.

However two minutes later, Balzan regained the lead when off an assist by Alex Satariano from the right, Matheus Souza hit home from close range.
