Hibernians returned to winning ways as a brace by Jake Grech handed them a 2-0 win over Zebbug Rangers at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday. A match which marked the debut of Silvio Vella as the new coach of Hibernians.
The Paolites move back in fourth place but Mosta and Balzan who follow, one point and three points behind, have a game in hand. Zebbug, on the other hand, remain third from bottom.
Hibs took the lead six minutes from the end of the first half when they were awarded a penalty after Travis Bartolo floored Joao Vitor Florencio inside the area – a foul which cost Travis Bartolo a red card to leave his side in ten men – and from the penalty spot, Jake Grech converted.
The Paolites doubled the score thirteen minutes in the second half thanks to another goal by Jake Grech who beat goalkeeper Jamie Azzopardi following an assist by Jurgen Degabriele.
