Attard and Lija Athletic registered important wins in the battle against relegation as they defeated Swieqi United and Mqabba respectively in matches from the BOV Challenge League Play-Out on Sunday.

At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, a goal by Yuto Morita on the half hour and goals by Bledi Alla on the 40th and 71st handed Attard a 3-0 win over Swieqi United.

Lija Athletic came from behind as they defeated Mqabba 3-2 at the Centenary Stadium. Lucas Matheus dos Santos put Mqabba ahead on the 14th and Ronald Makalysten Melo Costa doubled the score on the 26th. Camilo Andres Diaz Arias converted a penalty on the 36th to reduce the gap and three minutes later, Duvan Mosquera Torres levelled matters. Three minutes in the second half, Camilo Diaz notched the winner for Lija.

Fgura United and Mtarfa shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Centenary Stadium, goals by Serge Vrehourou on the 17th and Jeremy Cassar on the 71st.

On the other hand, at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Qrendi and Vittoriosa Stars earned a point each in a 2-2 draw. Junior Dibola put Vittoriosa ahead on the 19th, Suleiman Jalu equalised three minutes in the second half. Dibola scored again for the Stars on the 70th but four minutes in added time, Ryan Cutajar restored equilibrium for Qrendi.

In the Play-Out, St. Andrews lead the way with 32 points, followed by Fgura and Swieqi on 31, Lija 29, Marsa 27, Attard 26, Mqabba and Qrendi 21, San Gwann 20, Marsaskala 19, Mtarfa 15 and Vittoriosa 14.
