Balzan came back from two goals down to beat Pieta’ Hotspurs 3-2 at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.
Oliver Spiteri’s side re-joins Hibernians on the 33-point mark, leaving the Hotspurs anchored at the bottom of the table with just five points from nineteen matches.
The Hotspurs had a perfect start, taking the lead after just one minute courtesy of Armen Hovhannisyan whose lob beat goalkeeper Jonathan Debono.
On the 28th minute, Takuma Yamaguchi doubled the score for Pieta’ when he chested the ball down before beating the Balzan custodian with a fine shot.
Balzan reduced the gap just before the end of the first half when Angel Torres tried his luck with a rising shot which hit the crossbar before ending at the back of the net.
Substitute Bojan Kaljevic levelled matters on the 74th thanks to a direct free kick which gave the Pieta’ goalkeeper no chance.
Another substitute Delvin Ndinga hit the crossbar a few minutes later but he was not to be denied on the 81st, beating Moschin with a curling shot to hand Balzan the three points.
