An own goal one minute in added time enabled Marsaxlokk to return to winning ways as they defeated Santa Lucia 1-0 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium.
The Southseasiders join Sirens on the 19-point mark, eight ahead of Zebbug and eleven ahead of Santa Lucia who remain second from bottom, three points ahead of Pieta’.
Marsaxlokk scored the all-important goal one minute in added time when Oscar Carniello’s effort was deflected by Lorenzo Soares Fonseca who accidentally lobbed the ball over goalkeeper Matthew Calleja Cremona for an own goal.
A couple of minutes later, substitute Vamara Sanago was unlucky to hit the crossbar for Marsaxlokk.
