Zebbug Rangers registered an important win in the battle against relegation as they defeated bottom-placed Pieta’ Hotspurs 2-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.
This win – the third positive result in four matches – puts Brian Spiteri’s side six points ahead of Santa Lucia and nine ahead of the Hotspurs. For the latter this was another major setback in their struggle to avoid the drop.
The Rangers took the lead seven minutes in the second half thanks to Jeferson Macedo following an assist by Stefan Jannkovic.
Ten minutes from time, Henrique Marcelino Motta doubled the score, heading home off a cross by Roberto Enrique Sanchez.
Four minutes later, Ganiu Atanda Ogungbe was sent off to make matters worse for the Hotspurs.
