Hibernians came from behind to beat Santa Lucia 3-2 at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.
This was the third win in as many matches for coach Silvio Vella, including the comfortable win over Kercem Ajax in the Izibet FA Trophy. On the other hand, for Santa Lucia, this was a disappointing result considering that they were leading 2-1 and had their fair share of scoring opportunities.
The Paolites took the lead on the 2nd minute when off an assist by Joao Vitor de Oliveira Florencio from the left, Jurgen Degabriele hit home past goalkeeper Matthew Calleja Cremona.
Santa Lucia equalised on the 27th when Francisco Rodrigues Farias served Yevhenii Terzi whose powerful drive ended in the top left corner.
Nine minutes in the second half, Yevhenii Terzi made it 2-1 for Santa Lucia with an angled shot from the left following a pass by Robert Bairam, deflected by a defender.
Hibernians levelled matters thanks to Ferdinando Apap who hit home from close range after a Jurgen Degbariele freekick which was not held by Matthew Calleja Cremona on the 73rd.
Five minutes from time, Jake Grech served substitute Yunusa Muritala who controlled the ball before drilling it home in the bottom left corner from outside the area.
