Valletta hold Mosta in goalless draw

Valletta obtained the fifth draw in six matches as they held Mosta in a goalless draw at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.

A draw which leaves the Citizens in ninth place. On the other hand, Mosta, who were coming from three successive wins, dropped two points in the battle for a place in Europe and now share fourth place with Hibernians and Balzan, three points behind Birkirkara.

Following a goalless first half, early in the second half, Federico Falcone seemed to have put the Citizens ahead as the ball apparently had crossed the goal line but the referee waved play on.

Nilton Soares hit the crossbar for Valletta on the 63rd and then, two minutes later, it was Mosta’s turn to hit the woodwork through Precious Linus Tenebe.

Jacob Akrong was sent off for Mosta on the 65th but three minutes later, Nilton Soares Rodrigues received a second yellow card and was therefore given marching orders.

In added time, Michael Chidera Okoh hit the upright for Mosta after concluding a solo effort.
