Birkirkara hold Hamrun Spartans in another draw

For the second time this season, Birkirkara held Hamrun Spartans in a draw as the clash between the two ended in a goalless draw at the National Stadium on Sunday.

The Spartans therefore continue to lead the table by eleven points over Gzira United with the Stripes in third place, three behind the Maroons and three ahead of Mosta, Balzan and Hibernians.

The two teams will be meeting each other once again on Saturday in the Izibet FA Trophy quarter-finals.

Shots at goal were few and far in between throughout the ninety minutes. Birkirkara goalkeeper Giacomo Nava performed a good save on a Jonny long-distance effort on 20 minutes.

Twelve minutes in the second half, Elvis Mashike had a close-range effort turned into a corner by the Birkirkara custodian.

In added time, Steve Borg received a second yellow card and was therefore sent off.
