Msida St. Joseph moved a step closer to promotion as they defeated Rabat Ajax 3-1 in a top-of-the-table clash from Group B of the Izibet Amateur League at the Sirens Stadium on Sunday. A win which puts Msida eight points clear of Rabat and Luqa St. Andrew’s.
Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza put Msida ahead on the 13th minute and Kevin Sammut doubled the score on the 24th. Ian Caruana pulled one back three minutes in the second half but Mark Camilleri made it 3-1 on the 70th.
Chibuzor Lucky Nwaogu scored six minutes from time as Luqa St. Andrew’s defeated Siggiewi 1-0 at the Luxol Stadium to join Rabat in second place.
On the other hand, Dale Tabone scored on the 32nd minute to hand Kirkop United a narrow win over Ghaxaq at the Sirens Stadium.
St. George’s came from behind to beat Mdina Knights 2-1 at the Luxol Stadium. Matthew Scicluna converted a penalty for Msida on the 12th and eight minutes later, Nathan Belhadj levelled matters while Rudy Cassar notched the winner on the 77th.
