Sta. Venera Lightnings and Xghajra Tornados returned to winning ways in two matches from Group A of the Izibet Amateur League on Saturday.

At the Sirens Stadium, an Aidan Agius Gilford hat-trick handed Xghajra a 3-1 win over Qormi. Agius Gilford put Xghajra ahead on the 3rd minute and although Mattias Formosa equalised on the 19th, Agius Gilford scored again on the 55th and 71st.

On the other hand, a Fabio Attard penalty on the 62nd and a goal by James Degabriele eleven minutes later handed Sta. Venera a 2-1 win over Pembroke Athleta at the Luxol Stadium with Weverton Gomes scoring a consolation goal two minutes in added time.
