Futsal: St George’s, Żurrieq reach Enemed Challenger League final

St. George’s and Żurrieq Futsal will be contesting the final of the Enemed Challenger League.

Żurrieq saw off Malta U19, beating them 10-4. Despite the result, the Under-19s gave Żurrieq a hard time and it was only in the end that the latter made sure of the final success.

Jose Mario Fernandes Mendes and David Ferreira de Almeida scored a hat trick each with Dale Vella scoring two goals. Eventually Boycho Marev and Alexei Saliba closed the game for Żurrieq. Nathan David Balzan, Ivin Gatt, Denzel Camilleri and Kubilay Karadol scored for Malta Under-19.

Referees were Jude Amin Utulu, Marco La Rosa, Pierre Bonnici.

St George’s defeated Marsaskala 10-3 in the other semi-final.

Prolific scorer Karl Luke Schembri continued to confirm his potential as he scored five goals. Denzil Pisani and Faisal Alnakou scored twice each while Jovica Milijic rubberstamped the victory for St George’s. Marsaskala reduced the scoring margin through Amir Ashtiyani, Matthias Camilleri and David Sebastian Jimenez.

Referees were Stephen Vella, Pierre Bonnici and Marco La Rosa.

The Enemed Challenger League final between St George’s and Żurrieq will be played at the National Sports School Pavilion on Wednesday 29 March 2023 and will start at 20:45.
