Santa Lucia earned an important point in the battle against relegation as they held Hamrun Spartans in a 1-1 draw at the National Stadium on Saturday.
This draw puts Santa Lucia one point ahead of Zebbug Rangers with one game to go. In their final matches, Santa Lucia face Mosta while Zebbug Rangers take on Gzira United.
The Spartans took the lead on the 36th minute when Luke Montebello was brought down inside the area by Matthew Vella and Elvis Mashike converted from the penalty spot.
However eleven minutes from time, Santa Lucia equalised thanks to substitute Jan Tanti who received an assist by Robert Hehedosh from the left and entered the area before beating Winston Cristian Santos with a diagonal shot.
