Senglea Athletic Izibet Amateur League Champions

Senglea Athletic were crowned champions in the Izibet Amateur League as they defeated Msida St. Joseph 2-0 in the Championship Decider at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.

The Group A winners could have taken the lead on the 23rd minute but Timmy Thomas failed to convert a penalty. However on the 39th, Sebastian Perdomo Esquivel opened the score. Aidan Paul Azzopardi made it 2-0 one minute in added time.

After the game, captain Timmy Thomas was presented with the cup by MFA Vice-President Adrian Casha.

Meanwhile the third team to be promoted along with Senglea and Msida are Luqa St. Andrew’s who won the Promotion Decider against Mgarr United at the Sirens Stadium 2-1.

Sam Lorn Kind put Luqa ahead eleven minutes from time and three minutes in added time, Fabien Lufi converted a penalty to double the score. Christian Saint Ebisindor pulled one back nine minutes in added time.

The fourth team to be promoted will emerge from the Promotion Play-Offs.

In the third round of the Play-Offs, Kalkara United take on Zabbar St. Patrick at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Wednesday, kick-off at 20:30. The winner will face Mgarr United on Sunday 23 in the final.
