San Gwann were relegated along with Qrendi, Marsaskala, Mqabba, Mtarfa and Vittoriosa Stars after losing to Swieqi United at the Centenary Stadium in one of the BOV Challenge League on Saturday. On the other hand, Attard and Lija Athletic registered wins while Marsa rescued a point in a draw.
At the Centenary Stadium, a penalty by Johan Alberto Castano eleven minutes from time and a goal by Roderick Taliana three minutes in added time handed Swieqi United a 2-0 win over San Gwann.
Lija Athletic defeated Fgura United 4-2 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Wellignton Valentim de Sousa put Fgura ahead on the 19th but Erjon Beu equalised on the 33rd and Kotaro Kishi made it 2-1 on the 36th. Lija extended the lead thanks to a brace by Camilo Andres Diaz Arias on the 54th and 64th with Jurgen Debono reducing the gap one minute in added time.
Attard defeated Mtarfa 5-2 at the Sirens Stadium. Nicholas Schembri opened the score for Attard on the 14th but Brandon Micallef equalised one minute from the end of the first half. Bledi Alli scored twice on the 51st and 53rd and Nigel Spiteri made it 4-1 on the 67th. Gabriel Nazareno Mannino reduced the gap on the 76th but Nicholas Schembri sealed the issue with a penalty on the 80th.
Marsa came back from two goals down to hold Qrendi in a 2-2 draw at the Luxol Stadium. Pedro Luiz Gusso put Qrendi ahead on the 10th and Claudio Antunes Pavlidis doubled the score on the 23rd. However a brace by Christian Henrique Mota de Oliveira Silva on the 66th and 84th restored equilibrium.
Meanwhile in a match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Vittoriosa and Mqabba shared the spoils in a goalless draw.
In the Play-Out, Swieqi ended their commitments on 50 points, followed by Fgura on 41, St, Andrews 40, Lija 39, Attard 37, Marsa 35, San Gwann 34, Qrendi 31, Marsaskala 29, Mqabba and Vittoriosa 22, Mtarfa 21.
