IZIBET Amateur League 2023/24 draws

The draws for the IZIBET Amateur League 2023/24 were held by IZIBET Chief Commercial Officer Franco Degabriele and former Malta international midfielder Raymond Vella in the presence of Malta FA Director Football Operations Stephen Azzopardi.

Once again, teams will be divided into two groups – Group A with 12 teams and Group B with 11 teams.

Xghajra Tornados, Siggiewi, Birzebbuga St. Peter’s, Mdina Knights, Mtarfa, Sta. Venera Lightnings, Mqabba, Pembroke Athleta, Qrendi, Kalkara United, Rabat Ajax and Mellieha were drawn in Group A.

On the other hand, St. George’s, Kirkop United, Qormi, Dingli Swallows, Vittoriosa Stars, Ta’ Xbiex, San Gwann, Ghaxaq, Marsaskala, Gharghur and Mgarr United will be playing in Group B

Only the winner of each group will be promoted and they will be facing each other in the Championship Decider.

Since as from season 2024/25, the National League will be divided into two divisions – National Amateur League 1 and National Amateur League 2, similar to the old Second and Third Division.

Teams placing second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth are secured of a place in the National Amateur League 1 2024/25.

Teams placing seventh and eighth in each group will take part in the play-outs with the losing two teams being relegated to the National Amateur League 2 along with the teams placing ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth in Group A and the teams placing ninth, tenth and eleventh in Group B.

The league will run between September 16 and April 14 with the deciders and play-offs being played by April 21.

The venues will be the Centenary Stadium, the Victor Tedesco Stadium, the Sirens Stadium, the Luxol Stadium and possibly the Charles Abela Stadium.
