Marsaxlokk sign Weder Silva, Fernandinho

Marsaxlokk continued to strengthen their squad with the signing of thirty-one year old central defender Weder Soares da Silva and twenty-eight year old attacking midfielder Fernando Jose Gomes Junior.

Weder Silva was on the books of Gama, Santa Maria, Unai, Bandeirante, Jacarei, Tanabi, Botafogo, Samambaia, Ceilandense, Samambaia, Cruzeiro and following a spell with NK Medjimurje in Croatia, played for ASSU, Santa Cruz de Natal, Palmeira de Goianinha, Sousa and Moto Club. He moved to Malta last summer to join Sirens where he spent the first part of the season before returning to Brazil where he played for Fluminense de Feira and Icasa.

On the other hand, Fernandinho played for Botafogo, Nautico, Bragantino and Brasil Pelotas before joining badak Lampung in Indonesia. He returned to Brazil to join Santo Andre but moved to Malta in summer 2020 to join Zejtun Corinthians. Mid-way through the season, he returned to Brazil to re-join Santo Andre and later played for Villa Nova before joining TRAU FC in India, having a short spell with Agua Santa in Brazil.

The Southseasiders, who have appointed Winston Muscat as their new coach, had earlier signed Jacob Walker, Jake Ghio, Armah Ayo Vaikainah, Diego Pires Dall’Oca, Nikolai Muscat, Duane Bonnici, Gary Camilleri and goalkeeper Anson Saliba.
