Birzebbuga St. Peter’s defeated Mdina Knights 6-0 in a match from Group A of the IZIBET Amateur League at the Luxol Stadium on Saturday.
Samuel Saldanha put Birzebbuga ahead on the 27th and a few seconds later, Alejandro Brincat doubled the score. Leejoe Schembri increased the lead on the 38th but in added time, before the end of the first half, the Saints scored another two goals, courtesy of a Samuel Saldanha penalty and Ryan Sammut. Alejandro Brincat scored another goal on the 71st minute.
At the Sirens Stadium, Mtarfa defeated Sta. Venera Lightnings 4-0. Dassier Sammut put Mtarfa ahead on the 23rd and four minutes later, Josuel Spiteri doubled the score. Kurt Borg scored twice on the 58th and 69th to extend the lead further.
Rabat Ajax beat Mellieha 2-1 at the Luxol Stadium. Ryden Gatt put the Magpies ahead on the 9th but Michael Camilleri equalised on the 62nd. However a Neil Borg own goal on the 90th handed Rabat the three points.
In another match at the Sirens Stadium, Pembroke Athleta defeated Mqabba 3-1. Mouled Algazali handed Pembroke the lead after just three minutes and Weverton Gomes converted a penalty on the 34th. Four minutes in the second half Algazali made it 3-0 with Dylan Zarb converting a penalty six minutes in added time to score a consolation goal for Mqabba.
