A goal one minute in added time enabled Valletta to rescue a point in a 1-1 draw with Birkirkara at the National Stadium on Wednesday.

Both sides were eager to return to winning ways after both won their first match and then lost their second but at the end, they had to settle for a draw which sees them share the four-point mark, five behind leaders Floriana and Hamrun

The Stripes took the lead on the 21st minute when Juan Bolanos slipped on the right and Alex Satariano took full advantage and served Paul Mbong who slotted the ball past goalkeeper Jake Galea.

Birkirkara could have doubled the score through Alex Satariano who missed an excellent opportunity after an erratic clearance by goalkeeper Jake Galea but one minute in added time, the Citizens levelled matters courtesy of Federico Falcone whose great header saw the ball end in the top left corner, beating Marcel Zapytowski.
