Hamrun Spartans registered a third win in as many matches as they defeated Gudja United 3-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Wednesday.
A win which puts Luciano Zauri’s side on level points with Floriana on the nine-point mark, two ahead of Marsaxlokk.
Gudja United, on the other hand, suffered their first defeat after two draws in the first two outings.
The Spartans took the lead on the 17th minute when Seth Paintsil, served by Roko Prsa, hit low past goalkeeper Yeren Sozer.
Eight minutes from the end of the first half, Hamrun doubled the score courtesy of Luke Montebello, released on the left by Uros Djuranovic, who beat the Gudja goalkeeper with a diagonal shot.
Ten minutes in the second half, the Spartans made it 3-0 when Luke Montebello chested the ball down following a cross and beat Sozer with a fine shot.
