Marsa registered a most comfortable 6-0 win over Attard at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Saturday to move second in the BOV Challenge League.
Augusto Rene Caseres put Marsa ahead after just two minutes and on the 15th, Caseres doubled the score. Rodrigo Costa da Silva made it 3-0 on the 17th and five minutes from the end of the first half, Caseres completed his hat-trick. James Brincat extended the lead on the 70th and five minutes later, Paul Lapira added another.
Melita came from behind to beat Luqa St. Andrew’s 2-1 in another match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Alan Abdel Rahman put Luqa ahead on the 20th but Antoine Attard equalised on the 73rd and Andre Carlos Penha da Costa notched the winner eight minutes from time.
At the Centenary Stadium, Swieqi United defeated neighbours St. Andrews 2-0 thanks to an Ibrahim Salis penalty on the 22nd and a goal by Robinson Blandon Rendon just before half-time.
Zabbar lead the way with 16 points, followed by Marsa on 15, Lija and Melita 14, Zurrieq 12, Pieta’, Swieqi 11, Luqa 9, Senglea 8, Tarxien 6, Zejtun 5, St. Andrews and Attard 4, Msida 3 and Zebbug 2.
