Floriana re-join Hamrun Spartans on top

Floriana returned to winning ways in the BOV Premier League as three goals in the final thirty minutes enabled them to beat Sirens 3-0 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday to re-join Hamrun Spartans on top following the latter’s draw with Mosta.

The Greens had dropped four points in the previous two matches against Naxxar Lions and Gudja United but these three points put them back on top with the Spartans four ahead of Marsaxlokk and Sliema Wanderers.

Sirens, on the other hand, remain anchored at the bottom of the table on two points, together with Santa Lucia as they continue chasing their first win after seven matches.

Following a goalless first half, Floriana took the lead on the 62nd minute when off a corner from the right, Oualid El Hasni headed home past goalkeeper Andrea Cassar.

Nine minutes from time, the Greens doubled the score thanks to Kemar Reid, who, when served on the left, rounded a defender before slotting the ball past the Sirens goalkeeper.

Eight minutes later, Lorenzo De Grazia sealed the issue with a third goal with a well-placed shot from outside the area.
