University of Malta ACJ Group maintain fine form

University of Malta ACJ Group maintained their brilliant form in the Enemed Futsal League when they won their sixth consecutive game after a score of 13-4 against Ta’ Xbiex Futsal.

David Bobokhidze’s boys had the second part of the game in which they completely dominated their opponents.

The Brazilian Kaue Meggiato scored a hat-trick, Guilherme Fonseca and Leo Muscat scored a double each while Steven Camilleri, Paul Scerri, Dale Valletta and own goals from Stefi Cale, Jason Gauci and Glenn Bonello completed the score for the University. Stefi Cale scored a hat-trick for Ta’ Xbiex with Jason Gauci adding another.

Champions Luxol dominated their match against Gzira United Santa Margerita as they won 12-1.

Captain Mark Zammit was the author of a hat-trick in this match and thus also reached a record of 200 goals with the Luxol shirt in nine seasons. Everton Veve and Luke Gatt had a personal double while Matthew Attard, Celino Alves, Jean Noel Azzopardi, Andy Mangion and Robert Stoyanov also put their names on the score sheet. Yessous Camilleri scored the only goal for the Maroons.

ŽRQ Bormla returned to winning ways as they defeated Birżebbuġa St Peter’s Futsal 6-3.

By the end of the first half, the ŻRQ Bormla were two goals up and although they continued to score, the Sea Southsiders  always remained in the game.

Darko Ristic scored a double for ŽRQ Bormla with goalkeeper Norvic Deguara, Chris Cardona, Karl Luke Schembri and Mohamed Elamari also finding the net. Hamza Harrat, Isaac Ciranna and Denim Parnis reduced the scoring margin for Birżebbuġa.

Swieqi United Futsal got their fourth win of the season after a score of 8-0 against the Maltese under-18 selection.

Isaac Buhagiar scored three goals with Gregory Busuttil and Justin Theuma finding the net twice each. Kyron Borg Spiteri scored an own goal to increase the score for the team led by Dylan Micallef.

In the most balanced match of the weekend, Sliema Futsal and Marsaskala ended their clash in a spectacular draw of 7-7.

Iranian player Amir Ashtiyani scored five goals for Marsaskala with Craig Pickard and Dylan Caruana scoring the other two goals. Kevin Sammut scored twice while Wallace Oliveira Santos, Benjamin Battistino and Juan Poveda and own goals by Zack Cocker and Gallen Mifsud replied for Sliema.

Meanwhile Karl Luke Schembri of ŻRQ Bormla is the winner of the Hungry Jake Player of the Month for October 2023.

Schembri, who is 24 years old, is having a very positive season after scoring several important goals for his team during the past month. In one of the matches, he was decisive in order for ŽRQ Bormla to keep Luxol in a 4-4 draw when he scored all four goals for his team.

The presentation to Schembri was made by FMA vice-president Nathaniel Jones where apart from the trophy, he was also given some vouchers from the sponsors.
