IZIBET Amateur League: Mgarr join San Gwann on top

Despite having a game in hand, Mgarr United joined San Gwann on top Group B of the IZIBET Amateur League as they defeated Dingli Swallows 6-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.

Julian Camilleri put Mgarr ahead on the 24th and goals by Kyle Frendo on the 32nd and Camilleri once again two minutes later handed Jason Camenzuli’s side a three-goal lead. Nicholas Schembri made it 4-0 on the 69th and three minutes later, Christian Saint Ebisindor added another before Matthew Attard scored a sixth goal six minutes from time.

A goal by Dario Aquilina on the 65th handed Marsaskala a narrow win over Qormi at the Sirens Stadium.

St. George’s registered a comfortable 5-1 win over Ghaxaq at the Sirens Stadium. Morientes Muscat opened the score for the Saints on the 20th but although Rio Micallef equalised on the 32nd, Dylan Grima restored the lead on the 58th with Haruna Shola Shodija making it 3-1 on the 73rd. Muscat scored twice on the 78th and 89th to seal the issue.

On the other hand, Gharghur beat Ghaxaq 4-0 at the Charles Abela Stadium thanks to goals by Isaac Chircop on the 5th, Mihaly GIdaly on the 17th, Jayden Aquilina on the 41st and Warren Azzopardi on the 59th.

Mgarr and San Gwann lead the way with 13 points, followed by Marsaskala and St. George’s on 12, Qormi 10, Gharghur and Kirkop 7, Dingli 4, Ta’ Xbiex and Vittoriosa 3 and Ghaxaq 0.
