Joint-leaders Floriana and Hamrun Spartans will be hoping to collect the three points on Saturday as the BOV Premier League resumes with four matches following the international break.
At the Centenary Stadium, kick-off at 13:00, Sirens take on Hibernians.
The St. Paul’s Bay side is still chasing their first win after earning just two points in draws from the first seven matches, losing four out of the last five matches. Hibernians, on the other hand, returned to winning ways as they defeated Gudja United 1-0 in their last outing to end a disappointing run. They are currently joint-fifth on 10 points, seven behind Floriana and Hamrun and three behind Marsaxlokk and Sliema.
In the first match at the National Stadium, kick-off at 14:00, Sliema Wanderers and Floriana cross swords in the Old Firm derby.
Four points separate the two teams with the Greens sharing the top spot with Hamrun Spartans and the Blues lying third together with Marsaxlokk. The Wanderers are coming from three positive results thanks to a 1-1 draw with Hamrun and back-to-back wins over Gzira and Santa Lucia. On the other hand, Floriana extended their positive run with a 3-0 win over Sirens after dropping four points in two draws with Naxxar and Gudja.
In the second match at the Centenary Stadium, kick-off at 15:30, Gudja United face Balzan.
Gudja United are third from bottom on four points after obtaining four draws but still chase their first win. They are coming from a narrow defeat to Hibernians following a heavy defeat to Gzira and draws with Santa Lucia and Floriana. Balzan, on the other hand, lost three out of the last four matches, defeating Hibernians but losing to Floriana, Birkirkara and Naxxar. They are currently joint-eighth on nine points together with Valletta and Naxxar, one point behind Hibs, Mosta and Birkirkara.
In the second match at the National Stadium, kick-off at 16:15, Marsaxlokk take on Hamrun Spartans.
Since match-day 1, the Spartans maintained the leadership, although jointly with Floriana, winning five out of the seven matches played so far. However, they dropped four points in their last three matches following draws with Sliema and Mosta. Marsaxlokk, on the other hand, share third place with Sliema on 13 points, four behind the two joint-leaders. After back-to-back defeats to Valletta and Mosta, the Southseasiders defeated Birkirkara 2-0 in their last outing.
