Qrendi moved top in Group A of the IZIBET Amateur League as they defeated neighbours Mqabba 3-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.
Dario Borg put Qrendi ahead on the 19th minute and late in the game, Brandon Bray converted a penalty on the 77th and six minutes later, Aud-Gustine James Obaje sealed the issue with a third goal.
In another match, Kalkara United returned to winning ways as they beat Mellieha 2-1. Aaron Hili opened the score just before the end of the first half. Luke Farrugia made it 2-0 on the 63rd but three minutes later, Luka Mijic converted a penalty to reduce the gap.
Qrendi lead the way with 16 points, followed by Rabat on 14, Mtarfa 13, Birzebbuga and Pembroke 12, Mqabba and Sta. Venera 9, Kalkara, Xghajra and Mellieha 7, Mdina and Siggiewi 1.
