After losing two out of the last three matches, Birkirkara will be hoping to return to winning ways on Sunday as they take on Naxxar Lions in one of the three matches in programme at the National Stadium and the Centenary Stadium.
Mosta face Gzira United while Valletta take on Santa Lucia in the other two matches.
At the Centenary Stadium, kick-off at 11:00, Mosta face Gzira United, hoping to extend their unbeaten run to five matches after beating Birkirkara and Marsaxlokk, earning another two points in draws with Valletta and Hamrun Spartans. Four positive results which put them in joint-sixth place on 10 points, three behind the three teams in third place – Marsaxlokk, Hibernians and Sliema Wanderers. The Maroons lost just one out of the last five matches, earning draws with Naxxar and Valletta and defeating Gudja and Sirens. They are currently eleventh on eight points, two behind Mosta.
At the National Stadium, kick-off at 14:00, Birkirkara face Naxxar Lions.
The Stripes share sixth place with Mosta and Balzan but a win over Naxxar would put them on level points with Marsaxlokk, Hibs and Sliema in third place. The Lions lie one point behind Birkirkara and eye another positive result after claiming nine points from the last five matches, holding Gzira, Florana and Hibernians in draws and defeating Santa Lucia and Balzan. In their last outing, Birkirkara lost 0-2 to Marsaxlokk while Naxxar beat Balzan 2-1.
In the second match at the National Stadium, kick-off at 16:15, Valletta take on Santa Lucia.
The Citizens share the ninth place with Naxxar and target a win from this game after winning just one out of the last six matches, losing to Hamrun and being held in a draw by Gzira in their last two outings. Santa Lucia, on the other hand, still chase their first points, earning just two points in seven matches thanks to draws with Gudja and Sirens.
