Despite having a game in hand, Mgarr United moved two points clear in Group B of the IZIBET Amateur League as a goal by Jurgen Suda on the 20th minute handed them a narrow win over Kirkop United at the Sirens Stadium on Sunday.
San Gwann rescued a point in a 1-1 draw with St. George’s at the Sirens Stadium. Gianluca Sultana converted a penalty to put St. George’s ahead but Kemokoh Toure equalised on the 75th.
Vittoriosa Stars scored three late goals to beat Marsaskala 3-0 at the Luxol Stadium thanks to goals by Liam Gauci on the 71st, Leighton Grech on the 76th and Shaban Chikh Ali on the 89th.
Gharghur defeated Dingli Swallows 4-0 at the Centenary Stadium courtesy of Robert Ciantar on the 7th, Mihaly Gidaly on the 19th and 45th and Warren Azzopardi on the 83rd.
On the other hand, Ghaxaq registered their first win as they beat Ta’ Xbiex 8-2 at the Sirens Stadium. Aaron Agius opened the score when he converted a penalty on the 15th. Stefi Cale equalised on the 35th but Ghaxaq regained the lead three minutes later courtesy of Clayton Vella and just before the end of the first half, Phiram Sakchai made it 3-1. Aaron Agius converted another penalty five minutes in the second half, completing his hat-trick seven minutes later. Mark Bonello Ghio reduced the gap on the hour but goals by Jurgen Gerada on the 82nd and 90th and Neil Brownrigg on the 87th extended the lead further.
Mgarr lead the way with 16 points, followed by San Gwann on 14, St. George’s 13, Marsaskala 12, Gharghur and Qormi 10, Kirkop 7, Vittoriosa 6, Dingli 4, Ghaxaq and Ta’ Xbiex 3.
