Santa Lucia earned their third point as they scored deep into stoppage time to hold Valletta in a 1-1 draw at the National Stadium on Sunday.
Thanks to this draw, Santa Lucia leave Sirens at the bottom of the table as they move second from bottom, two points behind Gudja United. Valletta, on the other hand, continue to disappoint as they have now earned just two points from the last three matches. They are joint-fourth from bottom on ten points together with Mosta, Birkirkara and Balzan although they are just three points away from the three teams in third place.
Following a goalless first half, Valletta managed to take the lead on the 71st minute thanks to a powerful drive by Federico Falcone which gave goalkeeper Celio no chance.
However five minutes in added time, Santa Lucia levelled matters courtesy of Mattias Ellul who slotted the ball past Jake Galea following an assist by Wagner from the left.
