BOV Challenge League: Narrow win puts Zabbar top once again

A goal by Rowad Benhamed twelve minutes from time handed Zabbar St. Patrick a narrow win over Melita in a match from the BOV Challenge League at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday. A win which puts Zabbar once again on top.

Melita defeated neighbours St. Andrews 3-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium thanks to goals by Julian Galea on the 21st, Andre Carlos Penha da Costa on the 55th and Gareth Barone on the 73rd.

Fgura United defeated Luqa St. Andrew’s 3-0 at the Centenary Stadium. Dylan Caruana opened the score just before the end of the first half and Nnamdi Ofufu Ibeh scored twice in the dying minutes – on the 82nd and 87th.

In another match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Attard scored deep into stoppage time to rescue a point in a 1-1 draw with Zurrieq. Ivan Sousa Flora Francisco put Zurrieq ahead on the 64th but Bledi Alla levelled matters four minutes in added time.

Zabbar lead the way with 19 points, followed by Marsa on 18, Melita 17, Fgura 15, Lija 14, Zurrieq 13, Pieta’, Swieqi and Senglea 12, Luqa and Zejtun 9, Tarxien 8, Attard and Zebbug 5, St. Andrews 4 and Msida 3.
