Melita moved top in the BOV Challenge League as they defeated Lija Athletic 3-2 at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.
Erjon Beu put Lija ahead on the 11th but Santiago Martinez Perlaza equalised two minutes later. On the half hour, an own goal handed Melita the lead and Julian Abela made it 3-1 on the hour. Lucas Vinicius Viana Prati reduced the gap for Lija one minute from time.
Melita lead the way with 23 points, followed by Zabbar on 22 points, Marsa 19, Fgura 18, Zurrieq 16, Pieta’ and Senglea 15, Lija 14, Swieqi 12, Tarxien, Luqa and Zejtun 9, Zebbug 8, Attard 5, St. Andrews 4 and Msida 3.
