Hibernians return to winning ways

Hibernians returned to winning ways as a goal in each half enabled them to beat Valletta 2-0 at the National Stadium on Saturday.

The Paolites join Marsaxlokk in fourth place on 16 points with Marsaxlokk, three behind third-placed Sliema Wanderers and one ahead of Naxxar Lions but Marsaxlokk and Naxxar have a game in hand.

Valletta, on the other hand, remain joint-fourth from bottom on ten points as they suffered the third defeat in five matches.

Hibernians took the lead just before the end of the first half as two minutes in added time, Ferdinando Apap headed the ball home off a cross from the right.

The Paolites doubled the score on the 65th minute courtesy of Alex Bruno da Silva who rounded a defender before beating goalkeeper Jake Galea with a rising shot from a close angle from the left.
