Balzan and Valletta shared the spoils in a goalless draw in a clash between two teams desperate for points at the National Stadium on Saturday.
A draw which hardly made any difference for the two teams as Balzan remain eighth, on 14 points, with Valletta joining Gzira in ninth place on 11, one ahead of Mosta, who have a game in hand.
The Citizens have now gone six matches without a win while Balzan have now earned just five points from the last six matches.
Jhonnattann Benites and Shaun Dimech had two good attempts saved by Golovic mid-way through the first half as the Citizens created the better chances.
In the second half, the best opportunity fell at the feet of Brandon Paiber whose diagonal shot ended just wide in the dying minutes.
