Mtarfa stay three points clear of Qrendi in Group A of the IZIBET Amateur League as they defeated Sta. Venera Lightnings 3-0 at the Sirens Stadium on Sunday.
Gianfranco Micallef put Mtarfa ahead on the 13th. Kurt Borg doubled the score five minutes in the second half and went on to seal the issue with a penalty twelve minutes from time.
Qrendi defeated Kalkara United 4-0 in another match at the Sirens Stadium. Kevin Camilleri put Qrendi ahead on the 4th minute and one minute in the second half, Ross McParland doubled the score. Brandon Bray made it 3-0 on the 50th and McParland added another on the 72nd.
Birzebbuga St. Peter’s defeated Mdina Knights 5-0 at the Luxol Stadium. Samuel Saldanha handed Birzebbuga a two-goal lead with a brace on the 24th and 29th. Dylan Micallef extended the lead on the 58th with Saldanha completing his hat-trick on the 65th. Nick Borg scored a fifth goal for Birzebbuga on the 74th.
A brace by Yuya Emura paved the way for a 3-1 win for Rabat Ajax over Mellieha at the Luxol Stadium. Emura scored on the 36th and 48th with Aidan Azzopardi making it 3-0 on the 54th. Michael Camilleri converted a penalty to reduce the gap for Mellieha on the 66th.
In another match at the Sirens Stadium, Pembroke Athleta and Mqabba shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Ishmael Galea put Mqabba ahead on the 68th but Ryan Sciberras equalised three minutes later.
Mtarfa lead the way with 31 points, followed by Qrendi on 28, Birzebbuga 24, Rabat 21, Xghajra 18, Pembroke 17, Mqabba 16, Mellieha and Sta. Venera 14, Siggiewi 11, Kalkara 9 and Mdina 1.
