After suffering back-to-back defeats to Hamrun Spartans and Gzira United, Floriana returned to winning ways as they defeated Santa Lucia 2-0 at the National Stadium on Saturday.
The Greens therefore move four points clear of third-placed Sliema Wanderers as they maintain the challenge with leaders Hamrun Spartans.
Santa Lucia, on the other hand, after earning maximum points from the last two matches which had enabled them to move six points clear of bottom-placed Gudja United and Sirens.
Floriana managed to take the lead on the 27th minute when Dunstan Vella sent Mattia Veselji through on the left and the latter beat goalkeeper Celio with a fine shot from inside the area.
Three minutes in added time, the Greens sealed the issue with a second goal courtesy of Lorenzo De Grazia, served on the left by Willis Furtado.
