Hibernians edge past Gzira to move joint-fifth

Hibernians came from behind to beat Gzira United by the odd goal in five at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.

After earning just two points from the previous three matches, this win enables the Paolites to move fifth on 21 points, one point behind Marsaxlokk.

Gzira, on the other hand, suffer a setback as they fall fourth from bottom.

The Maroons took the lead on the 27th thanks to Thiaguinho who concluded a good move on the left with an angled shot which beat goalkeeper Hugo Sacco.

Three minutes later, Hibs equalised courtesy of Bjorn Kristensen who slotted the ball past goalkeeper Darijan Zarkov following a corner.

Gzira regained the lead on the 37th when off a cross by Andy Borg from the right, Lucas Macula headed the ball down and Brooklyn Borg hit home from close range.

However two minutes later, Hibs restored equilibrium when off a cross by Giannis Bastianos, Bjorn Kristensen served Jurgen Degabriele who hit low past Zarkov.

The game seemed heading for a draw but one minute in added time, substitute Lucas Caruana hit low past the Gzira custodian following a freekick by Gabriel Izquier.
