BOV Challenge League: Zabbar return to winning ways

Zabbar St. Patrick returned to winning ways in the BOV Challenge League as they defeated Marsa 3-1 at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.

Brian Ariel Gambarte put Zabbar ahead on the 28th. James Scicluna doubled the score four minutes in the second half and David Oliveira Souza made it 3-0 ten minutes later. Donys Aldair Quintero Maldonado pulled one back ten minutes from time. 

In the Top 6, Zabbar lead the way with 36 points, followed by Melita on 34, Pieta’ 30, Senglea 29, Marsa 28 and Zurrieq 27.

In the Play-Out, Tarxien Rainbows registered a most comfortable 4-0 win over Lija Athletic at the Victor Tedesco Stadium thanks to a goal by Precious Uchechukwu Nwankwo on the 4th minute and a hat-trick by Renold Winchester on the 53rd, 71st and 79th.

Swieqi United came from behind to beat Zebbug Rangers 3-1 at the Centenary Stadium. Duvan Mosquera Torres put Zebbug ahead three minutes in the second half but a brace by Blessing Brafo on the 61st and 79th turned the score in favour of Swieqi with Nicholas Pisani sealing the issue on the 90th.

On the other hand, goals by Alan Abdel Rahman on the 42nd and Collins Gyamfi on the hour handed Luqa St. Andrew’s a 2-0 win over Msida St. Joseph at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

In the Play-Out, Fgura lead the way with 29 points, followed by Swieqi on 24, Lija 22, Tarxien 20, Luqa 19, Zejtun 18, St. Andrews 12, Zebbug 10, Attard 8 and Msida 6.
