BOV Challenge League: Melita regain top spot

Melita regained the top spot in the BOV Challenge League Top 6 as they beat Zurrieq 2-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

Jesus Andres Yepez Morlets opened the score for Melita on the 33rd and Matthew Debattista converted a penalty to double the score six minutes in the second half.

In another match, Senglea Athletic and Marsa earned a point each in a goalless draw at the Centenary Stadium.

Melita lead the way with 37 points, followed by Zabbar on 36, Pieta’ and Senglea 30, Marsa 29 and Zurrieq 27.

In the Play-Out group, a goal by Kurt Bondin on the 65th handed Zebbug Rangers a narrow win over Fgura United at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. On the other hand, Lija Athletic defeated Msida St. Joseph 2-0 thanks to goals by Takumu Nishihara on the 19th and Jhanluis Aron Hernandez Leal on the 74th.

In the Play-Out, Fgura lead the way with 29 points, followed by Lija on 25, Swieqi 24, Tarxien 20, Luqa 19, Zejtun 17, Zebbug 13, St. Andrews 12, Attard 8 and Msida 6.
