After dropping five points in a draw with Sirens and a defeat to Sliema Wanderers, Marsaxlokk returned to winning ways as they defeated Valletta 2-0 at the National Stadium.
The Southeseasiders move back in fourth place, one point ahead of Birkirkara and two ahead of Hibernians. Valletta, on the other hand, are now third from bottom on 18 points, two behind Mosta and three behind Naxxar, Balzan and Santa Lucia.
Marsaxlokk took the lead on the 9th minute when off a cross from the right by Nevin Portelli, Yuri Messias headed the ball home past goalkeeper Alessandro Guanone.
Nevin Portelli doubled the score on the 22nd when he received an assist on the right and with a fine rising shot, he gave the Valletta goalkeeper no chance.
Shaun Dimech was unlucky to hit the foot of the upright for Valletta in the second half.
