Floriana moved to just one point behind leaders Hamrun Spartans as they came from behind to beat bottom-placed Gudja United 5-1 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.
Gudja, on the other hand, suffer a ninth successive defeat to stay at the bottom of the table with just six points.
Ironically Gudja took the lead on the 27th minute when Aidan Jake Friggieri surprised goalkeeper Georgi Kitanov with a long-distance shot from midfield.
However, Floriana were quick to react, levelling matters on the 34th when Kemar Reid was brought down inside the area and from the penalty spot, Willis Furtado converted.
Three minutes later, a good move between Dunstan Vella, Matheus Souza and Kemar Reid ended with the ball reaching Willis Furtado on the right and the latter beat goalkeeper James Pisani with a fine shot.
Three minutes in the second half, Kemar Reid hit low past Pisani following a cross from the right.
Oualid El Hasni scored a fourth goal, beating the Gudja goalkeeper from close range following a cross from the right by Furtado.
Substitute Christos Rovas made it 5-1 on the 70th minute after receiving a through pass by Dunstan Vella and beating Pisani from the edge of the area.
