Mtarfa stay ten points clear in Group A of the IZIBET Amateur League following a 1-1 draw in a top-of-the-table clash at the Sirens Stadium on Sunday.
Samuel Saldanha put Birzebbuga ahead on the 13th but Dasser Sammut equalised seven minutes from the end of the first half.
Mqabba earned three precious points thanks to a 3-0 win over neighborus Qrendi in another match at the Sirens Stadium thanks to a goal by Ishmael Galea on the 3rd minute and a brace by Andres Tenorio Viveros on the 14th and 21st.
Mellieha defeated Kalkara United 9-0 at the Sirens Stadium. Luka Mijic scored three on the 4th, 8th and 15th and Jack Vella made it 4-0 on the 17th. Malcolm Vella Vidal scored Mellieha’s fifth on the 72nd and Tejumola Ebenezer Ayorinde increased the lead three minutes later. But more goals were on the way as Michael Camilleri scored on the 80th, Wayne Chetcuti on the 87th and Ayorinde scored a ninth goal on the 90th.
Pembroke Athleta beat Santa Venera Lightnings 2-1 at the Charles Abela Stadium. Maverick Cassar put Pembroke ahead on the 22nd and although Jael Vella equalised on the 74th, Weverton Gomes notched the winner ten minutes from time.
On the other hand, in the basement clash, goals by Andre Farrrugia on the 35th and Lincoln Micallef on the 56th handed Siggiewi a 2-0 win over Mdina Knights at the Charles Abela Stadium.
Mtarfa lead the way with 47 points, followed by Birzebbuga on 37, Qrendi 35, Xghajra 30, Mellieha 29, Rabat and Mqabba 28, Pembroke 26, Sta. Venera 20, Kalkara 15, Siggiewi 11 and Mdina 1.
